You can set this argument in IDEA javac compiler options. IDEA runner should pickup these settings.

It seems the problem is not caused by upgrade, but rather by using new feature "Show changes from dependencies". Please submit issue in our tracker with this thread dump attached.

I would recommend to upgrade TeamCity to the latest version. IntelliJ IDEA maintans backward compatibility, but only to some extent.
