What happens if you open http://localhost:8123 in the browser on the server PC? Is this the same TeamCity as if you open http://myservername:8123 ?

What version control do you use? You mentioned that changes do not appear until you trigger a build manually, what checking for changes interval is specified for your build VCS root?

Different build triggers for configurations inherited from a template are not supported yet, however this feature has high priority. Chances are it will be included into the first 5.x release.
