What kind of memory error did you get? Is it heap space error or prm gen space? Also it would be helpful to see build log.

TeamCity can't be started from the war file, you need to unpack it first. Also we did not test it under the JBoss, so I would recommend to use Tomcat.

Could you please enable debug logging http://confluence.jetbrains.net/display/TCD5/Reporting+Issues#ReportingIssues-LoggingEvents, try again and the provide teamcity-vcs.log file?
