Failed to collect changes : Subversion VCS Root trying to checkout a non-existent branch

Hi,
I have configured the VCS root and checkout rule to checkout the existing branch. However, the subversion vcs root is trying to check-out a non-existing branch which is causing this error "Failed to collect changes, error: Error collecting changes. Path is invalid". The issue seems to get fixed when I changed the working copy format to 1.7.
Any idea as to what is causing the subversion vcs root to check on a non-existent/closed branch?

it would be useful if you could provide extra information about how your configuration exactly is in teamcity, and how your repo structure is, particularly given that you mention that "it works when the working copy format is set to 1.7". This is probably an indication that something in the setup is wrong or that your format is actually 1.7, which makes it work when you place that setting.
Which teamcity version are you using?
