Cannot Stop Build v2019.1.1

Hello,

I am unable to stop a build. I have tried restarting the agent service and restarting the TeamCity server (they are both on the same machine).

But the build continue to show the building progress bar in red (currently at 38 hours). The status is Canceled, but the processing image is still rotating.

The last log entry is Publishing artifacts.

Please help me remove this failed build.

Thanks

Have you tried finding the process on the machine via ps or Process Explorer and tried killing the build tool directly?

Another thought would be to reboot the entire server machine, although that may not be possible in your case depending on what else is running on that machine.

Hi Walter,

I've tried killing various processes and rebooting the server/agent machine. Still won't stop. It's currently at 231 hours.

I guess its not actually doing anything, but the UI still thinks its working. There seems to be no way to reset this.

Thanks

Crazy.

Is there anything in the [agent] log to indicate there's work going on with the agent? I'm wondering if the agent is idle but the server thinks there's work going on or if the agent is sending bad info to the TC server. If its in the server, maybe something could be done in hacking the database. If its in the agent though, maybe something can be done with the agent.

I can only think of crazier ideas like deauthorizing the agent or reinstalling the agent, but those are predicated on the agent being the problem. It could actually be a server side problem. If so, someone from TC would have to provide more insight.

Hi Nick, and thanks Walter for trying to help.

We faced recently a couple of very similar issues. The issue here is that the agent finishes the build, but for some reason the server does not and thus leaves the build running indefinitely. We found a possible culprit on it during this issue: https://youtrack.jetbrains.net/issue/TW-60999 and the user who followed up seemed to report success after upgrading to 2019.1.2

Could you please try upgrading and see whether that works for you?

Hi Denis,

2019.1.2 resolved the issue.

Many Thanks

We have the same issue with TeamCity 2019.1.2 :(

One build doesn't stop even after restarting the agent.

Stepan, please upgrade to the 2019.1.3 version. If the issue still reproduces, please create a request in  https://youtrack.jetbrains.net/issue/TW and attach teamcity-server.log and teamcity-agent.log.

Seeing this in 2019.1.3. Build failed, agent has been removed (destroyed AWS box). Still shows up on the build panel (currently as 191h running) and in Agents/Statistics as "unknown agent/<unknown> pool/ 100% cpu usage". I'll file a report.
