Change machine name

Hello:

I need to change the machine name that my TC instance is running on, so my question is can TC handle it? Will I need to modify some configuration files or make some DB changes? Or is it better to just backup the old machine and import to a new machine that is named properly (?).

I know I'll need to update the agents to point to the new machine.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

I've not tried this myself but I've had a browse around the config files on my (Windows) installation and you should be fine for the server.

For the build agents, there is a configuration file (BuildAgent\Conf\buildAgent.Properties), change the serverURL to point to the new server name.

Hi both,

while the agents should be the only consideration for internal working, some features use the "Server URL" described in the "Administration - Global Settings", so please consider keeping it up to date as well. You shouldn't need to modify any server configuration files, much less the database.
