Upgrade from 9.1.7 to 2017.2.3 - 100 configuration limit
Hello,
We recently upgraded from Teamcity 9.1.7 to 2017.2.3 and would like to run a trial build in the new environment for testing. However the yellow banner at the top displays:
"This TeamCity installation has 796 build configurations. Only 100 configurations are allowed.
Builds won't run until you either remove extra build configurations or enter additional licenses. "
Are our only options:
1. Remove 697 configurations if they are not needed so we can run at least one build config
OR
2. Pay for additional licenses to host all 796 build configurations simultaneously in TC
Kind regards,
Alex M-T

Hi Alex,
This is partially correct. While those are the only options, removing the configurations can be done in a more or less swift manner, by simply removing full projects. You can obviously back those up first, so that you can restore them later if you decide to finally renew your license. Another option is to store the project settings in version control. That way you can do the same thing, remove everything, keeping the changes in version control instead of having to store them separately as a specific backup.
On our upgrade documentation, we have as one of the first steps, to ensure that you have a valid license for the new version if you were using an older one. Older versions were limited to 10/20 build configurations without having a license, so you likely upgraded without renewal.
