Documentation/Definition of "Re-Run with the same revision"

Just wondering if/where the documentation is on this option within the 'Actions' menu on a build config?

I can presume what it may do but would like some more details on what it acctually does?

Hi,

The actions aren't really documented as we consider them to be self explanatory. Also, as is usually standard for applications, any menu option that ends in an ellipsis just opens a new dialog that can be dismissed without further action.

In particular, rerun with the same revision will open the custom build dialog, select as "Changes" the same revision with which the one you see was run, and run the build again with that fixed revision instead of the latest one available. The result, initially, would be expected to be the same, but this allows to re run builds that didn't fail because of the code, but because of the environment (missing tools, wrong configuration, wrong details on some build configuration, problems with free space, etc).

Hi, we're using  2018.1.2 (build 58537) and finding it is not using the same revision, e.g.:

The change list has one VCS root with the wrong revision (compared to the previous job run):

Can anyone help as to why? Different users seem to get different VCS roots with the revision mismatch...
