VcsRoot update triggered in the way VCS Update plugin works

Hi guys
I was wondering if there is something build-in TeamCity 8 that covers functionality the old VCS Update plugin have: https://code.google.com/p/vcsupdate/
It is a very usefull feature as out TeamCity estate have many, many, MANY VCS Roots and periodic checks puts a massive load on SVN/GIT repositories.
