Budgeting for next year
I remember reading some discussion that the next version (5.0?) of
TeamCity would require an upgrade for older licenses (we bought ours
with 1.0). I've been asked to estimate expenses over the next year and I
want to put this in the budget. Is there any word on what an upgrade
might cost (in round numbers)? $1,000? $2,000

Our upgrade policy for TeamCity 5.0 has not yet been defined. I am afraid we cannot provide any specific details on upgrade price and conditions as it will be determined only closer to the release.
As estimation, I'd assume some general practices for upgrade discounts.

There is no defined timeframe.
I would expect that the upgrade policy for 5.0 will be announced till the end of October.

Any update on pricing to upgrade from a 4.x Enterprise licence to a 5.0 Enterprise licence now that we are close to mid November?

We plan to publish upgrade policy in the nearest time. At the moment all I can say is that upgrades will not be free of charge anymore.
