Selecting number of tabs to display in Experimental UI

Completed

I have 6 extra external report tabs to show on some of my builds. In the experimental UI, those tabs are hidden in the 'More' dropdown. Is there a way for me to specify how many tabs we can show? Can I select the ones that I want hidden and the ones shown? Tabs that are visible give users a clear indication that additional reports exist. If they are hidden, I can almost guarantee that 90% of my users will never look for them. Having the ability to turn off or select the number of tabs to display by default would be big help here.

Hello Luis,

While custom report (as any other tab) could be marked as favorite to be always shown on the Experimental UI:

This would still require an action from a user as starred items are tracked on per-user level.

We do have a feature request: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/TW-63893 which is related to the tabs being hidden while there is still empty space. Could it work for you, if implemented?

Having to star the tab still means that a user has to search for the tab. What if the tabs were starred by default and a user was allowed to un-star them if they wanted to clean up their own view? Or if the UI allowed the admin to select whether a tab was shown by default with the same option for a user to un-star it?

With respect to the feature request, we still have the case where tabs are hidden from new users. It's better than all of them being hidden but still has an issue where users may not realize there are extra tabs to be seen.

Hello Luis,

Unfortunately, having all items starred by default would mean that for many cases, user would have to do extra work for un-starring the unimportant items. I can imagine a case when you do not want any favorites at all, so to use the default UI which will handle the no-favorite view you`ll have to manually click on them all.

I do agree that the feature request allows for a case when user is unaware of the existence of extra tabs. Do you think if some sort of UI accent when extra tabs are available would help with the issue? Please feel free to comment on the link above so that our development team may see your input on the issue directly.
