Upgrade from 8.05 to 2017.2.2
I am trying to upgrade TC Server on Windows from 8.05 to latest, 2017.2. I made a backup and downloaded the installer .exe. I ran the installer, but it did not detect that a prior version was installed. I also changed the default install path from C:\Teamcity to the path used when 8.05 was installed, C:\.BuildServer. In this case, it did not detect the directory as a prior version and just warned about overwriting files. Is this upgrade path possible, and if so what is the recommended process.

OK, I misunderstood the process. The upgrade does not occur while running the installer - after the installer finishes and the web ui is accessed, the new team city instance finds the prior version database the upgrade is then performed. My upgrade appears to have been successful.
