Migration from Enterprise to Professional

The company I work for has an Enterprise license for Teamcity. We use Teamcity version 8.1.5 to build one legacy product. Lately we have been doing it no more than once a year as we only deliver security updates.

After updating our git server, Teamcity stopped connecting to it and constantly shows an error.

Since we do not plan to develop this legacy project, there is no point in renewing the existing license. In this regard, I wanted to know if in this case I can deploy a new server with the latest version of Teamcity with a free Professional license and move the existing project there?

Thanks

It is possible to migrate to TeamCity Professional from Enterprise. The software is the same, in fact, so you will only need to make sure you are aware of how the licenses will impact how you use TeamCity. The key differences are below.

With TeamCity Professional, you're limited to:

TeamCity Enterprise includes:

Both TeamCity Professional and Enterprise include 3 build agent licenses and allow you to purchase additional agent licenses, if needed. For information on agent license pricing, please refer to https://www.jetbrains.com/teamcity/buy/#on-premises.

Keep in mind, that migrating from TeamCity 8.1.5 to the latest version of TeamCity will span years of changes. It will be best to set up a test server to evaluate your current builds on the latest TeamCity to ensure there are no breaking changes that affect how you currently use TeamCity. Our documentation covers the information on upgrading TeamCity here: https://www.jetbrains.com/help/teamcity/upgrading-teamcity-server-and-agents.html.
