Is there a way to assign the agent name in the agent conf file to an environment variable?

I am preparing an image that will be applied to several build agent machines.  I would like the TC agent to be preconfigured out of the box when these images are deployed but the one thing tripping me up is making sure all the agents will use the correct computer names.  I have tried assigning %COMPUTERNAME% to agent.name in the agent configuration but it does not resolve.  Is there any way I can do this?

Seth,

Unfortunately there is no way to assign agent name to an environment variable in agent configuration file.

Feel free to submit the feature request in our issue tracker.

You may try setting empty name for build agent in the buildAgent.properties file. This will make server to generate build agent name. By default, this name would be created from the build agent's host name.

Thanks Eugene, that was exactly what I needed.
