TeamCity shows "inspections not collected" with no errors in the build log

I have a build configuration that succeeds (green light) and yet it says "inspections not collected". What does this mean?

Hi Alex

Expections runner failed, and was not able to generate a report. It's hard to explain reaseons without knowing details.

What is TeamCity version?
Could you post a full build log please.

I am receiving the same error after upgrading to TeamCity 6.5 and adding a new FxCop integration build step.

I think this is because FxCop only produces an output file if there is something to report (i.e. an error).  So if there are no errors then no file is created and nothing for TeamCity to collect.  Therefore I think everything is okay.

I am having this problem as well -- as soon as I upgraded, all of my builds started showing "inspections not collected"

Am using FxCop 10, and was working successfully in TeamCity 6.0.  I checked the build log, as well as the fxcop-results.xml file, and they are identical between 6.0 and 6.5.2 runs.  Note that when I forced the FxCop run to have a warning (ie a bad code practice, since there are currently zero), the error showed up correctly.  But when there are no warnings or errors reported, it says "inspections not collected".

I should add that FxCop is truly producing a results file & report, but it is (same as before) empty with zero errors or warnings.  I attached the build log FxCop portion (XXXXXX out proprietary company name stuff) that shows the 6.0 run and 6.5 run.  Can also attach the FxCop results file from each, but they are identical.

Any advice?

Ahh...  I Figured it out!!!!

In FXCop, under Projects -> Options, you can choose to "Apply style sheet when saving report". Its the same as using /aXsl when using command line.

Using this setting causes the "inspections not collected" error... Turn it off, and stuff is working as expected.
