Installing TeamCity java.net.SocketTimeoutException

Answered

Hi I have downloaded the latest jdbc driver and am trying to install against mssql 2016.

I am getting the below error however. Can someone please advise. I am unable to locate a database.properties file also which is mentioned online.

The connection to the host localhost, named instance . failed. Error: "java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Receive timed out". Verify the server and instance names and check that no firewall is blocking UDP traffic to port 1434. For SQL Server 2005 or later, verify that the SQL Server Browser Service is running on the host.

Hello Matthew,

Sorry for delay in replying. Is the issue still actual?

Have you followed all the step from the guidelines? The database.properties file is located in <TeamCity Data directory>/config/ directory. Please check that it was configured correctly.

You are searching in TeamCity installation directory. By default on Windows TeamCity Data Directory is %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\JetBrains\TeamCity.

I have the same error, but I cannot locate the database.properties file  in the specified destination
"C:\ProgramData\JetBrains\TeamCity\config".

So what is the problem , I am using SQL server 2014 and tried it for 2016, the same issue

Hello Hussein,

If you do not have database.properties, you can create it via copying database.<database_type>.properties.dist file and renaming it to database.properties. For more details please see the section: https://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/TCD10/Setting+up+an+External+Database#SettingupanExternalDatabase-DatabaseConfigurationProperties.
