OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space after upgrading to 3.1 (build 6760)

Hello everybody,

First of all thank you for this amazing product!

I hope you could give me some pointers what could be the problem we are having. We upgraded to 3.1 just couple of days ago. Since then all our builds fail with subj. The compilation is fine, but then it fails on tests. We have not change anything in our code or builds and it fails on all our projects, even those we have not touched in a couple of weeks, so this problem is clearly not in our code, but the result of this upgrade.

Any thoughts on what is going on? Thank you, we appreciate it!

Not sure why it started failing when you switched but we had similiar issues when we switched to 64 bit JAVA

Had to add the env variable MAVEN_OPTS=XX:MaxPermSize=512m -Xmx512M

We had to play with the sizes which will be specific to your project.

I was about to try this option, when got your reply :) It helped, thanks a lot!

Still wonder why the upgrade broke it. The previous version was running on the exact same vm (64-bit btw).

How do you run your tests? What test framework do you use? You can try to add -XX:+HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError option to your JVM and when next time OutOfMemoryError occurs you'll have memory heap dump in the working folder.
