build commiters

Hi,

Can anybody tell me what's "build commiters",  and more specifcly, what actually happens when this line is written to the log.
INFO -   jetbrains.buildServer.SERVER - Start loading cache of build committers...

Is it the actual users who commited changes to the build, or is it a reference to the VCS?

Thanks.

This line indicates that TeamCity initializes its internal cache of users who committed to different builds. This cache is used to speedup various notification related calculations.

Could there be any reason why this would take more then a minute?

It depends on a number of builds and committers to these builds in your TeamCity server. How many active developers do you have? What is the average number of builds run daily? And finally why is it important for you? When server is running this cache is updated incrementally, but when server starts TeamCity should fill the cache with historical data. Without the cache TeamCity can be really slow.

We are 6 developers and have about 500 builds run daily.
I'm asking this because I've notived several times that this has taken more then an hour to complete, on other times it has taken 2 minutes.

What database do you use and what version of TeamCity is installed? More than an hour is way too much. If this happens again could you please make several thread dumps (http://www.jetbrains.net/confluence/display/TCD4/Reporting+Issues#ReportingIssues-HangsandThreadDumps) and send them to teamcity-feedback [at] jetbrains.com?

we're using the builtin storage and TC 4.0 (this started to happen only after a recent upgrade to 4.0).
I'll send the thread dumps next time it happens.
