Problem with TC 5 upgrade

Hi,

I am currently trying to upgrade our TeamCity 4.5.4 instance to TeamCity 5 and am getting the following stacktrace pasted below.

I have followed the instructions in the Upgrade notes under the section: "Manual Upgrading on Linux and for WAR Distributions"

(Although I havent needed to perform the external db step)

Error on step: Initializing...

Error creating bean with name 'standardBuildProblems' defined in URL [jar:file:/data/servers/apache-tomcat-6.0.13/webapps/teamcity/WEB-INF/lib/server.jar!/META-INF/buildServerSpring.xml]: Unsatisfied dependency expressed through constructor argument with index 0 of type [jetbrains.buildServer.ExtensionHolder]: : Error creating bean with name 'buildServer' defined in URL [jar:file:/data/servers/apache-tomcat-6.0.13/webapps/teamcity/WEB-INF/lib/server.jar!/META-INF/buildServerSpring.xml]: Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 3; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'buildServer' defined in URL [jar:file:/data/servers/apache-tomcat-6.0.13/webapps/teamcity/WEB-INF/lib/server.jar!/META-INF/buildServerSpring.xml]: Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 3

Are there any extra steps that need to be performed or does anyone know of how I can get around this issue?

Thanks
Kinshuk

Hello,

Sorry for the problem. Could you please attach logs from the Tomcat/logs directory? Please make sure they contain teamcity-server.log file.

  Thanks,

Thanks Kirill,

have attached the teamcity.log file

The teamcity-build.log file was empty so haven't provided that.

Pavel, thanks for the quick turnaround to fix the issue.

The upgrade seems to have worked fine, but it appears our Enterprise license is only suitable for TeamCity 4.5 and that we need a new license for TeamCity 5.0.

Is this correct? Is there anyway that I can obtain a new license?

thanks,
Kinshuk

Indeed TeamCity 4.5 licenses won't work with TeamCity 5.0, please take a look at the upgrade policy: http://www.jetbrains.com/teamcity/buy/index.jsp
Please ask our sales: sales [at] jetbrains.com for possible upgrade steps in your case.
