Problem setting up TC Issue Tracker with JIRA

I am trying to set up Issue Tracker integration with JIRA. This used to work for us previously when JIRA was on the local network. Then when we moved our JIRA to an Amazon EC2 instance it stopped working.

Now when I test the connection it fails, with one of two outcomes depending on how I enter the JIRA URL in settings:

- if I use http://jira.our-domain.net, there is a long pause of several minutes, and then it shows "Error: Connection timed out"
- if I use https://jira.our-domain.net, it immediately shows "Error: Connection refused"

The user account works if I log in to JIRA directly in a browser, so I know it is not a faulty login. I also confirmed "Accept remote API calls" is turned on in the JIRA options.

Could it be because the new JIRA instance is using a self-signed certificate? Some other problem?

regards,
Karen

Hi Karen,

Do you use "https" when login to JIRA from the browser? If yes, then TeamCity setting should start with "https" and TeamCity server should run with all necessary SSL certificates.
Do you have any certificate installed in your browser? Is it possible to check remote JIRA API using some other tool?

Hi Maxim,

I do use https when logging in through browser. I also have a *.pem file that I imported into Firefox on my personal workstation. This was not required to authenticate through the browser, but it did stop the browser warnings about untrusted certificate authority. Does Teamcity (or the server is it running on) require this .pem file in order to trust self-signed certs?

I am not sure how to test the remote JIRA API, I will see if I can figure it out. Teamcity is the only tool I have used to integrate it with previously.

thanks,
Karen

Hi Karen,

Can't be 100% sure (as I'm not the expert in Java security area), but I suppose the webserver requires the certificate.

Can you try to import the cert into JKS? The following links might help you:
