Issues Running TeamCity server

Howdy,

I am running the agent and the server from the same machine. My goal is to try out team city and become familiar with it, to prepare for a larger implementation in the future (I am aware that running the agent and server on the same machine would not be ideal). Also I am using windows 7.

. What is weird is just last Friday I had teamcity working fine  (I was going through and setting up the build steps, however i uninstalled it because i wanted to run it on a drive other then C:). I deleted the old teamCity folders and files and then tried running it off the D drive and didnt have any luck. When I tried to reinstall it back on the C drive today it no longer would work.

The error I reach is at the end of the .exe installer when i click to launch the server and agents it says. It seems the content of the TeamCity Data Dir (C:\Users\BigRig) doesn't belong to TeamCity.  It seems as though there is bug describing it (see link below).

I tried installing this as System and as my current user both did not work. I think the issue is that it is no longer creating the  .BuildServer directory for some reason.

Thank you.

i think the issue may be due to the fact that Tomcat is not running. Though I am not sure if tomcat should be running at this point

below is the script i used to see if Tomcat was running.

@echo off
wmic process list brief | find /i "tomcat.exe"
set result=%ERRORLEVEL%
if "%result%"=="1" echo "not running"
if "%result%"=="0" echo "running"

script was found via the second solution here. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6220196/determine-if-tomcat-is-running-in-windows-using-the-command-prompt

Also the account I am running this from is under the Administrators group.

Hi

TeamCity installation wizard asks to specify a data directory:
Untitled.png
Here it expects an directory like C:\Users\BigRig\.BuildServer. It should not exist yet, or be empty. But not a parent directory as C:\Users\BigRig.

In next release we'll change these dafault, so they should cause less confusion for new users.

To run system services under a user account, Windows requires to grant this account Log on as a service user right.
