Problems setting TeamCity up with MS SQL Server

I am attempting to install TeamCity on a server with MS SQL Server 2012.  I have set up a SQL user and even given the user sysadmin privileges, but when attempting to set up TeamCity, I get the message:

Login failed for user 'TeamCity'. ClientConnectionId:c4dccef6-a9b8-47e4-b297-5cce3443564a
SQL exception: Login failed for user 'TeamCity'. ClientConnectionId:c4dccef6-a9b8-47e4-b297-5cce3443564a

I've changed the password six times now, logged on through SQL manager and created an ODBC connection to the server with the credentials and everything works properly.  The only thing that refuses to connect to the server is the TeamCity installation.  I've followed the directions for setting up an external data source (http://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/TCD8/Setting+up+an+External+Database#SettingupanExternalDatabase-native), but that didn't make any difference.  What do I need to do to get this install to connect to my server?

Never mind.  Someone changed the authentication mode of my server to Windows only.
