Build Agent does not detect msbuild configuration parameters

We recently upgraded from using Visual Studio 2010 to 2015. I changed the build steps on my Teamcity Project to use Visual Studio 2015 and failed to compile. I found that I had to install the windows 10 SDK and the build tools for 2015. I did this on all three of my build agents. After rebooting them all two of them detected the new msbuild configuration parameters without problems. One did not. I have uninstall the windows sdk, build tools, rebooted. unauthorized the agent and reauthorized it. How can I get my build agent to detect these new configuration parameters?

We are using TeamCity Professional 9.1.7 (build 37573)

Thanks,

Damien

Hi Damien,

Sorry for delay. Is the problem still actual? Do you install tools and run agent under the same user?

Yes, the agent still has the issue. The only way I could get it to work was to manually add the parameters to the buildAgent.properties file in the C:\BuildAgent\conf folder. The TeamCity Build Agent service is running under the Local System account and I am installing the tools as another local administrator. But this is how its configured on the other two build agents.

Hi Damien,

Good to know that you found a workaround. Could you please enable debug logging on agent, start it and send us the resulted agent logs for investigation? Thank you!
