Migrating some agents and their build configurations to a new server instance

Our current TC server instance hosts several builds from different departments. These departments have pretty different requirements concerning their agents' toolchains and server features. So we face issues when discussing the need for server updates.

My question: Is there a documented migration path on how to migrate some agents' configurations to a second server instance and thus separating the servers for two departments so that each department can run its own instance? What is the easiest and most secure way to split the build configurations from one server onto two instances?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Henning,

Since TeamCity 9.0, you can import projects with all their data and user accounts from a backup file to an existing TeamCity server.
If you need to move data to a fresh server without existing data, it is recommended to move the server or copy it and then delete the data which is not necessary on the new server.
